Adaptive Baseball Volunteer: You will be a buddy for a special needs child at The Miracle Field in Murrysville. This project starts in May. Information for Registration will be provided by the nurse.
Babysitting for PTO meetings: You will help parents attend their monthly PTO meetings by babysitting their children so they can be involved in their child’s school. Available at Harrison Park, Level Green, McCullough, and Sunrise. The meetings occur once a month.
Big Buddy Program: high school students participate in a pen-pal program that focuses on making good decisions and becoming involved in your community. Each student writes 2 letters. High school CAP members and their buddies meet at the high school in April or May for a fun event and refreshments. Great way to help mentor our younger students.
Crafty Shack at PT Elementary Schools: This is a fun craft sponsored by The Crafty Shack. This event is held after school in our elementary schools from 3:15-4:45 p.m.
5K Race: This is sponsored by the Penn Township Business Association. You will be responsible to help with various duties such as working water stands; guides etc. This event is usually in April.
Food Bank: This is at the Westmoreland Food Bank in Delmont. This event is typically held on Saturdays from 8:45-11:15 a.m. The dates are TBA. Pack food boxes for senior citizens. This can be a family project as well.
Food Drive (Spring): In addition to bringing in 5 cans for the food drive, CAP members may assist by picking up food at our elementary schools and bringing it to the high school. One day only during February & March. Need access to a car/truck or parent to drive.
Fresh Express: Students will assist in distributing fresh food and produce to area needy families. This event is held Jeannette after school until 5 PM. Must be mature and responsible. Family members welcome!
Friend Day: Participate in Westmoreland Parks and Recreations, “You’ve Got A Friend Day.” Be a buddy for a special needs child as they participate in a carnival type atmosphere. Great and rewarding day! Preference given to Seniors and Juniors. Held at Twin Lakes Park in Greensburg. Wednesday, October 5: 8:20-2:15 PM. Held during school day. Transportation provided.
Golden Heights Nursing Home on Route 130: The students will work with the activities director with on-going monthly projects (crafts; bowling; Battle of the Generations and much more). Dates: TBA - Time: 6:45-8:00 PM

PTBA Halloween Parade: You will help with the Penn Township Business Association’s Annual Fall Costume Parade.
Hospice: Heartland Hospice in Penn Township has volunteer opportunities for students 16 years of age and older. Duties are mainly office work assistance. Days and hours determined based on your schedule. Must be 16 and attend orientation.
Irwin Food Pantry: Students will assist with organizing and distributing food to needy individuals in the Irwin area. Selected Saturdays: Dates listed on the website. Time: 7:00 AM-11:00 AM. Can be a family project.
Jeannette Food Pantry: You will pack food at the Jeannette Salvation Army and then deliver it to needy residents in the Jeannette High Rise Apartments. One Friday a month during school from 8:30AM-12:10 PM. Must be mature and responsible. 4th Friday of the month (except holiday months)

Light Up Night (Holiday Light Celebration): help the Penn Township Business Association with their annual light up festivities.
December: 5:15-7:30 PM.

Community United Methodist Church Activities: This ‘n That Sale: You will help organize with setup and tear down.
Fall Clothing Give Away Set-Up
Norwin ELKS: Assist the Norwin ELKS with various indoor and outdoor projects. Saturdays from 9AM-Noon. Lunch provided. Dates TBA
Penn Pals Fall Festival: You will help the local day care with their Fall Festival. Work games, booths etc. Usually in October 11:00-2:30 PM.
Penn-Township Fall Festival Parade: You will help assist within our community by helping with the parade.
Penn-Township Police Department Stuff-A-Truck: Students will help organize the toys that are collected by the police officers and distribute for Backpack Program and local churches.
Pet Friends: Great for animal lovers! Attend Pet Friends in their Saturday adopt-a-pet days. Held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at Carwen Boarding Kennels. Two shifts available: 11AM-12: 30 or 12:30-2PM.
Second Sunday Supper: Students will volunteer in the meal preparation and service for needy and homeless individuals in the Greensburg area. Held the 2nd Sunday of every month at the First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg. 1:30-4:30. Must be mature and responsible! Provide own transportation. Very rewarding. Can be a family project.
Special Olympics: Students will be a big buddy for challenged individuals and help them in their Olympic event. Very rewarding. Two opportunities.1) Bowling: at Hillview Bowling in Greensburg. 2) Track & Field Day at Norwin High School. One Saturday in May. Independent activity. Must provide own transportation. Under supervision of Special Olympics staff.
Can be a family project.

Table Set-Up for Harrison City Woman’s Club: This is an easy project but much appreciated job for those with a little muscle. All that is required is to set-up tables for this organization’s monthly meetings. Held in the Penn Township Library. Time: 4:00-4:45. TBA
Toys for Tots: Students pack toys for area needy children. Dates: in December
Location: Greensburg/Youngwood. Need only attend one Evening. Can be a family project.
Tutoring: opportunities are available to tutor our younger students.
Elementary Schools. Days will depend on your schedule but need to be consistent in your attendance. Can go every week, every other week etc.
Ushering for the PTHS Drama Guild: Students help usher or be a runner for the fall play or the spring musical.
Veterans Project: We will be sponsoring a collection in October/November for our Veteran’s Hospital in Oakland.
